Karyotypic Analysis of the Clipper Barb <i>Enteromius callipterus</i> (Boulenger 1907) from Tahoss Stream, Jos Plateau, Nigeria

The chromosomes of male and female individuals Enteromius callipterus [1] were assessed in this study with the objective determining diploid chromosome karyotype. samples obtained from Tahoss River, Jos Plateau, assessment was conducted using conventional Giemsa staining technique. reveals that individual E. has a number 2n = 50, fundamental autosomal arms (NFa) 82, karyotype formula 14M + 4m 32t. However, none spreads for either equal to or below common 50 known members genus. two presented here 54 58. Although sex dimorphism is rare within genus, present results suggest show sexual at chromosomal level.
